More than just a Friendship?

I have been friends with Daniel since we were both freshmen in High School. I have had a crush on him for a long time but until this past weekend and the previous week, it had been years since we had seen each other. I am horrible with birthdays so I can't remember when his is but mine is 02/07/82. We had a great time the last time we hung out, I felt a connection but was wondering if it would be a good idea to take it to the next level? Any insight would be helpful. Thank you.
